If you were me I'm sure you'd agree...

I thought my water broke yesterday. I was at work and felt a gush. A small gush, but a gush. I called my doctor’s office and they said to go up to the hospital and they could test to see if it was amniotic fluid. So I called Paul and he came home to get me. We packed the car and off to the hospital we go. In the mean time, Paul calls everyone in his cell phone to tell them that we are going to the hospital. I just call my mom. I was completely anticipating being sent home. I figured we go in, the do the test, it will come back negative and I can go back to work. Boy was I ever wrong!

We arrived at the hospital at 2pm. I fill out a couple of forms and then a nurse comes to take us into a room. They have me change into a hospital gown and give a urine sample. Then I get into the hospital bed and they hook me up to 2 monitors; one to monitor Elliott’s heartbeat, and one to monitor contractions (which I wasn’t having). Then they do the Amniosure, which the nurse tells us will be able to be read in about 5 minutes. It comes up negative, but we can’t go home yet. A new nurse comes in and she asks me a bunch of questions, then says a doctor should be in to check me. At this point it’s about 2:45pm. Then we sit and wait. Paul looks at all the machines. I start getting very uncomfortable in the hospital bed. I want to take those stupid monitors off. Paul plays a game on my cell phone. People call. People text me. I watch TV. The doctor finally comes in at about 4:45pm, tells me that the Amniosure was negative. She checks my cervix and I’m still only dialted to 1cm, which was the same as the day before. Then we wait some more and another nurse comes in to go over discharge instructions and take the monitors off (!!!!). We get home at about 5:30pm. It was exhausting! I never want to do that again unless I get to take a baby home at the end!
